TOURNAMENT RULES
TOURNAMENT FORMAT
This tournament is actually two tournaments: one for boys and one for girls.
The boys will play a modified single elimination format. The girls will
compete in pool play for the first day and then advance to another round
of pool play on the second day. Points for pool play will be: Win-6, Tie-3,
Loss-0, and one point per goal up to 3. One additional point is awarded for
a shutout. The maximum number of points for one single game is ten.
TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE
ALL TEAMS ARE SCHEDULED TO PLAY ON BOTH DAYS (Dec. 4th and Dec. 11th) OF THE
TOURNAMENT. Check the master scoreboard/schedule posted at the Tournament
Administration table before you leave West on Dec. 4th or check the
schedule/results posted on the West High Soccer website (www.westhighsoccer.com).
The schedules for the second day of the tournament will be posted on the website
by Sunday, Dec. 5th.
TOURNAMENT CHECK-IN
All teams need a team official to check-in at the Tournament Administration
table at West on both days of the tournament.
START TIME / MINIMUM NUMBER OF PLAYERS
Every effort must be made to begin each game on time because of the tight
schedule. Please warm up on practice areas so that games can begin on
schedule and remember that halftimes are only 5 minutes long. Game times
are RUNNING TIME (no timeouts or injury time). Referees have been
instructed to shorten halves to get back on schedule if
a game begins after the scheduled starting time. Teams must field 7 players
minimum at start time or forfeit.
LENGTH OF GAMES
All games are scheduled for regulation length halves of 35 minutes. Halftime
is scheduled to be five-minutes for all games.
LINEUP CARDS
Please complete your lineup cards before coming to the tournament. Two
lineup cards are required for each game, one for the referee and one for
the opposing coach. Blanks will be available at the Administration Table
if needed.
DETERMINING GAME/BRACKET WINNERS
In the event of a tie in one of the boys game, the winner will be decided
by penalty kicks. For pool play, bracket ties will be determined by goals
against, goal differential, and then penalty kicks. No overtime will be
played.
HOME TEAMS/UNIFORMS
The team listed first is designated the Home Team and is required to change
uniforms if there is a color conflict. The Home Team is also responsible
for providing the two game balls and will occupy the west or north side of
the field, with visitors on the east or south side.
WEATHER AND FIELD ASSIGNMENTS
All games are planned to be played as scheduled, rain, fog or shine. The
tournament reserves the right to cancel games for safety purposes or to
change field assignments at the discretion of the Tournament Director.
All coaches should check in at the Tournament Administration table at
least 30 minutes before their first game each day. Continue to check
with the Tournament Administration table for any last minute changes.
The Tournament Administration table will be located between the fields
at the West High School site.
FACILITIES
Restrooms will be open in the West High Stadium and at the park just north
of Victor Elementary. A snackstand at West High will be open throughout the
tournament. The locker rooms will not be available.
RED AND YELLOW CARDS
A player sent off (red card or two yellow cards) may not play in the next
game and may be suspended for additional games at the discretion of the
tournament director. The severity of the foul(s) for which the player was
ejected will be the deciding factor. A player cautioned (yellow card)
must be substituted for immediately. That player may ask the referee
for re-entry into the game the next time that a substitution may be
made by that player's team.
PROTESTS
No protests will be permitted. The referee's decisions are final.
REFUNDS
In the event the tournament is cancelled for any reason, entry fees will
be refunded less any prorated direct costs expended by the Tournament.
AWARDS
A Tournament Championship Trophy will be awarded to the winning team in
the championship bracket of the tournament.
